Tuchel sends ‘massive’ message to Ziyech after not celebrating his goal against Brighton

Ziyech scored the opening goal at the Amex Stadium, but the Moroccan refused to celebrate his goal, as he rather gave a muted celebration.

However, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel had a go at Hakim Ziyech and Romelu Lukaku for their poor performance against Manchester City over the weekend, and the pair seemed to be unhappy during Tuesday night’s clash against Brighton.

Thomas Tuchel didn’t seem to care about his player’s lack of celebration, and when asked if Ziyech’s muted celebration was an angry response to the criticism.

Tuchel told BT Sport: “Well, hopefully.

“Yeah, I’m happy. He can score 20 more and not celebrate, I’d have no problem.”

Former Chelsea ace Joe Cole believes Ziyech seemed unhappy and it was evident in his lack of celebration.

“This is what you play for,” Cole told BT Sport. “He’s a fantastic talent, he probably hasn’t hit the ground running in the Premier League, it’s very different to the Dutch league, you see him in duels and he can be stronger.

“What you can’t question is his ability, on the ball he’s second to none, his technique, he’s a fantastic player.

“But the not celebrating, it doesn’t sit well, just for him as a lad. if he was in my team I’d be getting him and saying, ‘come on!’”
