UCL: 2 players out as Chelsea confirmed 23-man travelling squad for Champions League clash against Dinamo Zagreb
Chelsea has released the squad that will take on Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League match in Croatia.
The Croatian team will be facing Thomas Tuchel’s team immediately after their contentious 2-1 victory over West Ham United on Saturday.
However, Tuchel believes that an offside should have been given before the corner in which the Hammers scored because Michail Antonio’s opening play was improper.
Before Kai Havertz, who had also entered as a substitute, scored the game-winning goal, Ben Chilwell had equalized.
Maxwel Cornet appeared to have given West Ham an equalizer a few moments later, but VAR stepped in and suggested the referee watch the video.
After watching replays on the pitch-side monitor, Cornet’s late equaliser was ruled out as Jarrod Bowen was adjudged to have fouled Edouard Mendy, leaving the Irons furios.
Despite starting every match so far this season, Thiago Silva is absent from the squad to travel for the Champions League opener.
N’Golo Kante has also not travelled due to a hamstring injury sustained against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this season.
New signings Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Zakaria make the squad and could be in line for their Chelsea debuts.
Wesley Fofana could be in line for his second start after his debut against West Ham.
The Blues will be hoping to get a win in their first match of the competition.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have flown out to Croatia ahead of the match, with Tuchel taking a 23-man party with him for the match.
