UCL: Chelsea duo to miss second leg against Atletico Madrid despite massive win

Chelsea did well to beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 at the National Arena in Bucharest, with Olivier Giroud’s strike the only goal to separate both sides.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will be without Mason Mount and Jorginho for the second leg at Stamford Bridge, due to suspension.

Four Chelsea players were walking on tight rope and stood at risk of suspension heading into the game, with Mateo Kovacic and Hakim Ziyech, as well as booked duo Mount and Jorginho.

UEFA rules stipulate that three yellow cards in the competition equal a one-game suspension, which ensured the above names in line with a suspension.

However, the good news is that, should Chelsea qualify for the quarterfinal, everyone will be given a clean slate, which would mean that Kovacic and Ziyech will then be free.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will have to do without Mason Mount and Jorginho for the second leg which comes up on March 17.
