UCL: How Lukaku reacted after Tuchel benched him against Lille finally revealed
In Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Lille, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel made a bold decision to drop Romelu Lukaku to the bench for the Champions League round of 16 clash against Atletico Madrid.
However, It was expected that Lukaku would come in for the second half of that clash, but the Belgian was left on the bench for the entire 90 minutes.
Kai Havertz played as a false nine against Lille, and the German had a good game, and ended up scoring the opening goal.
Now, According to reports, Lukaku was surprised at the manager’s decision not to play him all through the game.
Chelsea boss Tuchel had claimed Lukaku was exhausted against Crystal Palace, in what was an abysmal performance over the weekend, which saw him touch the ball just seven times.
According to The Telegraph, the Belgian did not agree with the manager’s decision and felt ready to play against Lille, and was disappointed to miss out.
