Update: Chelsea receive injury boost on Edouard Mendy

Chelsea have received a potential injury boost on Edouard Mendy and the goalkeeper could return to action by the end of the month.

The Senegal international recently picked up a thigh injury in training with the national team and that forced him to withdraw from the squad.

It was initially predicted that he could be sidelined for four weeks, but The Athletic claims that he has only suffered a minor setback.

As per the report, the 28-year-old has sustained a hamstring problem rather than a thigh strain and he should recover in a couple of weeks’ time.

Mendy kept a clean sheet on his Premier League debut against Crystal Palace, where the Blues registered a comfortable 4-0 win.

The club won’t be able to play him immediately after the international break and Kepa Arrizabalaga is likely to feature between the sticks.

The Spaniard has become the deputy keeper after the arrival of Mendy. He has already been guilty of a high-profile error this term.
