‘Very talented player, ready to give him some chance’ — Tuchel says on Chelsea player
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has hailed the talent of the Brazilian and has admitted that he has been given a clean slate under his watch.
However, Kenedy first joined Chelsea back in 2015 in Jose Mourinho’s second stint at the club, and after initially impressing for the Blues, the Brazilian has had to go out on various loan spells.
Kenedy hasn’t made a Premier League appearance for the club since 2017, but he has now been recalled to fill in the void left by the injured Ben Chilwell.
Meanwhile, on the 25-year-old’s big chance back at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel said: “It’s a clean slate and I think he knows it. I followed Kenedy for many years and he was very impressive in the beginning.
“He lost track a little bit and maybe couldn’t fulfil the demands from the outside. But this is life. He gets a second or third chance now to be here and it’s not about what happened.
“He was good in pre-season, he decided he wanted to go back to Brazil, but having Kenny and Emerson on loan, Kenny was possible and now he is here.
“He is a very nice guy, very talented, and let’s see where he is. It’s a huge opportunity and I am more than happy to give it to him and help him make the best of it.”
