According to transfer news from Express, Chelsea are keen on signing Aurelien Tchouameni after a glowing reference from Cesc Fabregas. The former Blues midfielder is a teammate of Tchouameni and he recently gave a glowing reference for the youngster.

A youth product of Girondins Bordeaux, Tchouameni started out at SJ D’Artigues in 2006 and spent five years there. After that, he moved to Bordeaux’s academy and continued on his development. In 2017, he was promoted to the Bordeaux B side but due to his rapid progress, they pushed him up to the senior side within a season.

Over the next one and half seasons, he made 37 appearances for the side. He left for AS Monaco in January last year and has established himself as a vital player in the side since then, making 44 appearances to date.

One person who has shared the field and dressing room with the talented midfielder is former Chelsea midfielder, Cesc Fabregas. The veteran Spaniard had nothing but glowing words of praise for the youngster.

“He can play anywhere in midfield and he will not have a problem. He can play as a No 6 alone, as a defensive midfielder, as a No 8, in a double 6. What he’s doing now, even in a year’s time, he could become a good No 10 if he wanted. He’s got the power to get into the box. He needs to improve his final pass a little bit, but he’s so young, and he’s determined to learn. From what I can see, and the will that he has, he has a bright future ahead of him.”

Chelsea are planning to sign a midfielder next season and it is not without reason they have kept their eyes on Tchouameni. The midfielder is rated at a premium £34m but given the reference that Fabregas has bestowed, it wouldn’t be too bad to invest in the player.
