Video: Chelsea star Hudson Odio scores in his first game after recovering from Achilles injury

Callum Hudson-Odoi continued his road to recovery today with a fine goal for Chelsea’s U23s.

The midfielder signed a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge earlier this week to end the speculation over his future at the club.

Hudson-Odoi was desperate to leave during Maurizio Sarri’s tenure but Frank Lampard’s appointment has convinced him to stay in west London.

The 18-year-old’s been sidelined with an Achilles injury since the end of last season but he’s stepped up his rehabillitation in the last fortnight and has now featured twice for the U23s.

And he scored today against Southampton as the Blues ran out 2-0 winners.

The winger raced on to a fine through ball from former Rangers midfielder Billy Gilmour and calmly dispatched.

Hudson-Odoi hopes to make his first team return in October and he’ll be of great use to Lampard, who has the Champions League and Carabao Cup to contend with now.
