Chelsea announced that they would be opening up the Millenium Hotel at Stamford Bridge for NHS workers for the duration of the coronavirus crisis.
Roman Abramovich will himself cover the costs of this decision.
It’s a great gesture, one that could genuinely save lives, and it has rightly been highly praised by football people all over the internet.
Twitter light up with the announcement, with everyone looking out for positive news. “Well done Mr. A” said one commenter of the news that the Russian oligarch was doing this, in the country that won’t give him a VISA.
Let’s hope that people around the world can do their bit – whether they are able to give up an entire 5 star hotel to health workers, or even just stay put in their homes to help slow the spread of the virus.
#CFC providing free accommodation for NHS staff…great gesture to help ease the burden on those working long hours at a very difficult time. https://t.co/8Ampx7Ql65
