What Tuchel did that won my respect – Kai Havertz finally reveals
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has proven himself to be a top class manager, as Chelsea have improved drastically under his watch – winning the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.
However, beyond the on field performances, it’s even his off the field stance that has won him the hearts of many.
Despite the controversy surrounding the club at the moment, Tuchel has stood defiantly and has defended the club very well on all fronts. More importantly, he has been excellent in front of the media.
Chelsea star Kai Havertz has admitted that Tuchel has earned his respect with the way he has handled things.
“Tuchel is currently even more challenged than he already is. Many people in our club and its environment draw their strength from what Thomas Tuchel says. It is remarkable how he and all the staff are coping with the current situation. Kai Havertz told BILD.
“I imagine it’s very difficult, especially since I experienced it myself before the Champions League game against Lille. At the press conference, of the ten questions asked, almost all revolved around Roman Abramovich and the war. Of course, I can understand that. But then we, the players, are expected to give answers that no one can give right now, not even politicians.
“That’s why the coach has my utmost respect for how he handles that responsibility both internally and from a public point of view. We all try to focus on the games, we can’t influence anything else.
“For us, the first priority is that the war is stopped and that there is finally peace in Ukraine.”
