“When the whole stadium is against us we“… Angry Mason Mount finally speaks up after being stoned by fans
Mason Mount was in fine form for England as the Three Lions defeated Hungary 4-0 in a World Cup qualifying clash on Thursday.
Mason Mount got an assist in the game as a fine performance from the England team was too good for the Hungarian fans.
The Hungary supporters are notorious for being hostile, and they booed the English players for taking a bow against racism before the start of the game.
By the time the Three Lions scored the first goal, the Hungary fans became agitated and threw objects at the England players.
Mount has now revealed how the team reacted to the hostile reception from the home fans.
“I don’t think we have ever been scared of anything,” the Chelsea midfielder said.
“We are growing in confidence, it is not over-confidence, but we know what we have got in the team.
“When the whole stadium is against us we grow. As players we spoke about it and knew it would be a hostile environment and we revel in the opportunities.
“We want to show what we can do on the ball and make the stadium silent with how we are playing and what we are doing and we showed that in the second half.
“We had a killer instinct in front of goal. It killed the game off and then gave them no hope. As soon as we scored, you could tell within the atmosphere that something was going to be thrown or something would happen and luckily no one got hurt or anything like that.”
