Why ‘Chelsea are on borrowed time’ – UK government sends strong warning to Chelsea
Chelsea was put up for sale for like two months, as Roman Abramovich decided to sell the club following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
However, The sanctions imposed on the club have seen Chelsea unable to negotiate contract or transfer deals with players, as the club is currently working via an operational licence.
Britain’s Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport told the BBC on Thursday, that Chelsea are now on borrowed time.
Nadine Dorries told the BBC’s Newscast podcast: “Chelsea is very much on borrowed time at the moment. There is a very short window left for that sale to take place. It has to happen soon,”
Asked what would happen if that window closed without Chelsea being sold, Dorries declined to say, but added that the club had “weeks” to be sold.
