Why I steps down as technical advisor and leave Chelsea -Petr Čech finally reveals
Petr Cech is resigning from his position as Chelsea’s Technical and Performance Advisor.
He has left Stamford Bridge the most recently since Todd Boehly took control of the team, following Marina Granovskaia and Bruce Buck.
Three years ago, Cech took on the role, and the team has lauded him for improving the connections between the first team and academy systems.
However, Speaking about his departure, Cech said, ‘It has been a huge privilege to perform this role at Chelsea for the past three years. With the club under new ownership, I feel now is the right time for me to step aside.”
Cech has a long history with Chelsea since he served as the top goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge from 2004 until 2015.
After a difficult start to 2022, the 40-year-old is pleased with the club’s current situation as a new era is only getting started.
“I am pleased that the club is now in an excellent position with the new owners, and I am confident of its future success both on and off the pitch”, he said.
Reiterating the point that the decision to leave was Cech’s, new chairman and owner Boehly said: “Petr is an important member of the Chelsea family. We understand his decision to step away and thank him for his contributions as an advisor and his commitment to the club and to our community. We wish him the best.”
As well as changes off the pitch, Boehly is planning for a big summer of spending to bolster Thomas Tuchel’s squad, with the club linked to Cristiano Ronaldo and Matthijs de Ligt.
