Why I want Liverpool to beat Real Madrid in Champions League final – Mendy finally reveals
Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy won the Champions League last season, and was a top player for the club en route to last season’s success.
However, Liverpool and Real Madrid will face each other in the Champions League final this weekend, and Edouard Mendy has revealed he’s supporting the Premier League club.
The Senegalese goalkeeper who was celebrated by his Senegal teammates last year (including Liverpool star Sadio Mane), has revealed he is rooting for his countryman Mane, to claim his second European Cup medal.
Mendy is hoping that Mane can lift the trophy to strengthen his case in the race to win the Ballon d’Or, after winning the African Cup of Nations earlier this season.
Mendy told Foot Mercato: “I want Sadio to win the Champions League of course.”
“He is having an exceptional season, he is in the running for the Ballon d’Or and the Champions League will mark a turning point. He plays against his biggest competitor. Whoever emerges victorious will score a lot of points.”
