Why Lewandowski is afraid of a Chelsea move – Agent finally reveals

Robert Lewandowski, the Bayern Munich striker, has confirmed that he will leave the Allianz Arena this summer.

The two teams connected with a deal for the Poland international are Barcelona and Chelsea.

Lewandowski’s heart is set on Barcelona rather than a move to Chelsea, according to his former agency.

While the player previously used the English weather as an excuse to prevent a transfer to the Premier League, according to his former agent, Cezary Kucharski, there was a more important reason behind his excuse.

Kucharski asserts Lewandowski appears to be concerned by the Premier League’s difficulty.

Kucharski told Sport 1, “I always heard Robert give a childish explanation that it rains so much in England.”

“But I think the real reason was that he didn’t think he could be as efficient as in Germany. Robert was really afraid of that.”

It’s yet to be seen if Barcelona can afford the wages of Lewandowski, which means Chelsea may be his other possible option if he really wants to end his stay with Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has backed Chelsea to sign Robert Lewandowski, and he believes the Poland international could be the perfect replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

For Cascarino, Lewandowski would ‘guarantee’ goals at Stamford Bridge, despite his age.

The 33-year-old has been one of the best strikers in the world over the past decade, and has scored a staggering 344 goals in 375 appearances for Bayern.

Cascarino told talkSPORT: “Mason Mount was the club’s top scorer in the Premier League this season – Lukaku hasn’t scored enough goals.

“It’s a tough one, what do you do with him? How many clubs in Europe can afford to pay his wages and pay a fee that would get him out the door?

“It’s going to come down to Tuchel. Sometimes managers just don’t fancy you, you’re not their cup of tea, and it looks that way. It doesn’t look like a good fit with Lukaku and Tuchel at Chelsea.

“If he’s given the option of getting Lewandowski, you’re going to go for it. OK, he’s 32, but Chelsea signed Thiago Silva and he’s been a brilliant signing for the club.

“If they could get that one over the line, Chelsea missed goals in the centre-forward position all season, and it’s cost them so dearly. They’ve come third and they are FIFA Club World Cup champions, but they could have done with an ultimate goalscorer and he’s one of them.

“You’d take Lewandowski every day of the week, he’s guaranteed goals and his wages would be small change for Chelsea.”
