Why Nobody saw this coming: Tuchel finally reveals after 4-1 loss to Brentford

Chelsea faces a heavy 4-1 defeat from Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

However, The first half was a dour performance between the two sides, with few chances created.

Shortly after the restart, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger scored a stunning long range strike to put Chelsea ahead.

Chelsea’s lead lasted only a minute, as Janelt Vitaly scored the equaliser shortly after. The away side would compound Chelsea’s woes by scoring three more goals to win the game 4-1.

Speaking after the game, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel blasted his team’s defending and admitted that no one saw this massive defeat coming.

Tuchel told BBC Sport: “Nobody saw it coming, especially after going 1-0 ahead. It was very untypical of us.

“But we stopped defending. We were not aware of enough of the danger, were sloppy with the defending and got punished.

“They made the most of it in those 10 minutes. Right after their third goal we had 10 minutes where we had big, big chances and we missed them.

“They were lucky and clinical enough to get three goals. We did not defend like it is needed to in the Premier League and got punished.”
