Why Rudiger pushed Alaba after the game finally revealed
Antonio Rudiger was enraged at full time, as Chelsea failed to secure a place in the semi-final of the Champions League.
However, Rudiger had a fine game and scored a brilliant header in the second-half to help Chelsea’s cause.
As at 75 minutes, Chelsea were 3-0 up and through to the semi-final if the scores remain same. Unfortunately, the Blues would concede an 80th minute goal to Rodrygo, before losing the game in extra time.
At full time, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger who scored the second goal was inconsolable.
Real Madrid defender David Alaba went to put his arms around Rudiger and say a few words to console him, but the German international pushed away the former Bayern Munich man and stormed off, screaming and yelling before dropping to his knees. He also refused to speak with other players.
Speaking in the BT Sport studio, Rio Ferdinand acknowledged that Rudiger had every right to be angry, but he’d regret his actions when he’s calmer.
Fellow pundit Steve McManaman also said: “He angry, he’s upset. I mean, you imagine the range of emotions for us [just watching], but the range of emotions today was everything.
“You’re out of the competition, 3-1 down, suddenly play great and you’re going through to the next round and 3-0 up, and then that happens again. You can understand. No wonder Thomas Tuchel is getting greyer, it’s sad.”
