Why Tuchel must be blame for my Chelsea exit – Timo Werner finally reveals real stories
In the summer of 2020, Frank Lampard acquired Timo Werner.
However, The German international struggled to reestablish his scoring record in the Bundesliga after leaving RB Leipzig for Chelsea for a sum of £47.5 million. As a result, his Chelsea career has been full of ups and downs.
After spending two seasons with Chelsea, Werner left the club for his old team, RB Leipzig, after playing a significant part in helping Chelsea win the Champions League last year.
Werner has acknowledged that Chelsea will always have a special place in his heart, but he was forced to quit the team since his style didn’t fit Thomas Tuchel’s.
Timo told the Einfach mal Luppen podcast: “For me, the fun of playing football is in the foreground,”
“Of course, I had great success at Chelsea, but the fun got a bit lost in the end because I didn’t play regularly anymore.
“I think the coach’s system of play didn’t suit me perfectly. That’s why it was clear to me that I wanted to take a new step. I’m at an age where I want to play as much as I can.
“I really associate very great successes with Chelsea – the greatest of my career. It will always be a special club for me. I will also stay in touch with many of the players from the team.”
