Why Tuchel shouted at Kovacic in Wolves game, finally revealed

As we all know, the game against Wolves was one that Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel didn’t want to play at all, but the game was forced to take place, despite 7 Chelsea players having tested positive to coronavirus.

It’s in midfield where Chelsea have experienced the worst hit as N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic had only just returned from injuries, Jorginho have been playing through the pain barrier in their absence, Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been out and Saul Niguez hasn’t lived up to the billing.

Playing in the fogs at the Molineux Stadium, Kovacic seemed a bit rusty, in what was his first appearance in about two months.

Tuchel obviously wouldn’t have played the Croatian if he had options, and Kovacic showed his rustiness when he attempted a scoop pass across the edge of his own box that went straight to a Wolves player rather than to Cesar Azpilicueta.

Thomas Tuchel was livid on the touchline as the Croatian opted against playing a quick pass to Marcos Alonso which saw the Chelsea boss jump up and down and shouted out something loud in disgust at the Chelsea midfielder.

Despite his rusty performance against Wolves, it’s good news that Kovacic is back, and on his day, the Croatian can be one of the best in the world. We’ve surely missed his combination with Kante and Jorginho in the middle of the park.
