Will Chelsea fans welcome superstar from Real Madrid in big Frank Lampard move?

Former Newcastle striker Faustino Asprilla believes Real Madrid playmaker and Chelsea target James Rodriguez should move to the Premier League.

Frank Lampard was not handed the kind of funds that he had hoped he would get during the January window and only managed to secure transfer deals for a couple of academy players, as it seemed that the hierarchy did not want to spend money in the winter window

And Lampard should now be focusing on trying to bring world class players to the side in the summer, with Rodriguez a great option for the club.

The Chelsea were linked with a loan move for Real Madrid midfielder Rodriguez during the January transfer window, but the LaLiga club were thought to have preferred a permanent deal rather than a short-term fix. Since returning from his loan spell with Bayern Munich, Rodriguez has struggled to establish his place in the Madrid team, and he has made just seven starts all season and has only one goal and one assist to his name.

The 28-year-old could look to move elsewhere in the summer to revive his career, meaning that the Chelsea may be able to secure a bargain £34 million deal for the attacker when the transfer window opens up. And now Asprilla has opened up and told the midfielder that he should make the move to the Premier League, Speaking to RCN of the Wolves target, he said: “James does not have to go to suffer at Wolverhampton, a team that always fights after relegation.

“James has football to be on teams like Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea or Arsenal. “James does not need to play for Real Madrid to dazzle us here with his football. For me he is a starter in any team.”

NOW WOULD HE BE A GOOD CHELSEA SIGNING?

Rodriguez, who back in 2014, won the Golden Boot at the World Cup as well as the Puskas Award, could be a real statement signing from Lampard that would hand Chelsea fans a real boost that the club are seeking to get back into the habit of winning big titles.

Rodriguez just needs a manager that will give him faith, patience and time to get back to his very best and for that £34 million asking price, why not make a move for a man that can win a game in the blink of an eye? He could be a serious summer bargain for the price he is going for, but Chelsea fans done forget, he will not be same player that once was hailed as one of the best in the business.
