World Cup winner officially announces he wants to sign with Chelsea in the summer!

Olivier Giroud has expressed his feeling to stay at Chelsea beyond the summer as he approaches the end of his contract.

There has been a lot of transfer speculation in the media over the past few weeks about the imminent departure of striker Giroud, who has become very unhappy in the Chelsea side this season after falling behind Tammy Abraham in the pecking order.

Abraham has proved himself to be a top Premier League striker, leading the clubs scoring charts in the Premier League this season, and rather than sit on the bench on a weekly basis, Giroud has shown a desire to depart the club for pastures new.

There was even speculation in the media that he was all set to leave the club during the January window, but with the Blues unable to sign a new striker, and Abraham picking up a serious injury, it meant that Lampard needed the Frenchman to stay put until at least the end of the season.

Now, after being involved in a number of games since the January window, Giroud has opened up and officially told Chelsea that he would like to sign a new deal and stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer window, asked if would like to stay at Stamford Bridge, he said on the Metro: “Yes. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course.

“There are a few months to go, games to win and maybe another trophy, and after, you know, I think I have two (or) three nice seasons in front of me.

“It’s not the time to talk about contracts and everything but I will take a decision when it comes.”

Giroud is a good striker that has been unable to be that prolific striker that many clubs need, so even though he wants to stay at the club, there is no doubt that Chelsea will look to sign a new striker in the summer, meaning that there will be no need to keep the Frenchman. He kicked up such a fuss this season about his game time, so why wouldn’t he if the club landed a world class forward.
