Yaya Toure and John Mikel Obi are legends in the African continent, and both played huge roles to make their clubs achieve success, Chelsea and Manchester City respectively.
The duo fought for the African Player of the Year award in 2013, but Mikel lost the award to Yaya Toure as he only finished second.
Mikel and Toure are both being linked with a move to Brazil, as Botafogo are keen on signing the duo.
Ricardo Rotenberg, the Botafago vice-president of Finance and Marketing has explained that the duo have two different values – as Toure represents the better marketing choice, while Mikel is the better player at the moment.
“I talked last week with the two players and with their managers, too. Negotiations continue and only the salary part has not yet been settled,” Rotenberg told ESPN Brazil.
“With Yaya we would gain a lot in terms of marketing and with the fans. With Mikel, the gain would be stronger on the pitch.”
