“YESSSS Please sign him, he supports Chelsea” – Blues fans reacted after Chelsea make move to sign Cesar Azpilicueta replacement
Following speculations that Lens full-back Jonathan Clauss would transfer to Stamford Bridge in the summer, Chelsea supporters have taken to social media to express their excitement. The Blues have reportedly made first contact to hire the 29-year-old Frenchman for just £10 million, according to journalist Nizaar Kinsella.
If Cesar Azpilicueta decides to depart the team in the upcoming months, Clauss would be viewed as a replacement. The Frenchman apparently supports Chelsea, and his devotion could be a major factor in the transfer. Atletico Madrid, a powerhouse in La Liga, is reportedly also in the running to recruit the 29-year-old, according to Kinsella.
However, For Lens in Ligue 1, Clauss had a fantastic 2021–22 season. The 29-year-old made 37 appearances in the French league, participating in five goals and 11 assists.
He also made his French national team debut in March of this year thanks to his performance from last season. Clauss has currently received four caps for France. During the just-completed international break, he was also a member of their UEFA Nations League team.
Meanwhile, Twitter users who support the Blues are ecstatic about the rumors. Some others even think that his loyalty to the club might help him play well for the team. Here are a few tweets on that:
