Ajax star Hakim Ziyech attracted lots of interests from many top clubs across Europe, but it was the Blues who snapped up the Moroccan international for a fee believed to be around £37 million.
Many were surprised at how Chelsea easily beat competition to sign Ziyech, but the Moroccan international has revealed that Chelsea’s style of play is the biggest reason he chose to join the club while also hailing the club as a big club.
“Happy, proud, I am excited and I cannot wait,” he told Ajax TV.
“It [Chelsea] is a big club in a big competition. I like the style of play, they play really attacking football, and that is something that fits me and that is one of the biggest reasons I chose therefore.”
Chelsea have now confirmed Ajax star Hakim Ziyech has agreed a five year contract with the club. However, the 26-year-old will remain with Ajax until the end of the season before making the switch to Stamford Bridge.
On agreeing a five year deal with Chelsea, Ziyech said: “I am delighted and proud to have signed for such a huge club as Chelsea. I am looking forward to next season and hope we can achieve great things together.”
