Deal On: Frustrated Lampard set to seal £80million signing after West Ham loss

Chelsea lost a massive chance to be comfortable in the top 4 race if they beat West ham last night.

However, A win at West Ham would have seen the Blues top Leicester City into third place and maintain our five points advantage over Manchester United, who are fifth in the table.

One player that failed to impress against West Ham is Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso and his days in Chelsea are set to be numbered after his performance against West Ham.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard complained about his players failing to make recovery runs in the defeat at West Ham and Alonso was guilty of that against West Ham.

Following the loss at West Ham and Alonso’s awful performance, Lampard is expected to push Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia to quickly sign Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell to avoid losing the England international to Manchester City, who are also interested.

Chelsea have reportedly made enquiries about the left-back and Leicester City are reportedly demanding a fee of £80 million for the England international. Despite Lampard’s desire to sign Chilwell, the Blues are unwilling to meet Leicester’s asking price for Chilwell and hope to sign the left-back for around £50 million.

Porto left-back Alex Telles and Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico are also alternatives if the Blues fail to sign Chilwell.
