£43M star to follow Koulibaly to Stamford Bridge – Chelsea ‘already’ working on completing deal
Presnel Kimpembe, a France center-back valued at £43 million, has already become the subject of negotiations between Chelsea and PSG, Blues supporters have been informed.
Ted Boehly understood that in order to retain the supporters on his side and close the gap with Man City and Liverpool, he would need to make some significant financial commitments. Therefore, a big player had to be recruited.
Raheem Sterling was the first player the American signed, and Kalidou Koulibaly is the second player to join the club after it took Chelsea some time to complete their transfer transaction.
Now, it appears that Thomas Tuchel is set to get a player that he greatly admires after rumours that Chelsea and PSG are currently in negotiations to acquire Kimpembe surfaced, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Although the talks have not yet progressed much, the French champions would consider offloading the 26-year-old if their asking price was met.
That hasn’t happened yet, according to a new story from The Independent, which states that PSG has set a price of €50 million (£42 million) plus €10 million (£8.5 million) in bonuses.
However, Kimpembe is entering that peak of his career and will only get better over the next couple of seasons – so the fact that his contract is running down will give Chelsea a boost in their chase to get him signed up
The signing of Koulibaly is world class and one that will improve that back-line – but if Chelsea manage to wrap up a deal for Kimpembe too – that will be a formidable partnership in the centre of that back-line
But will Chelsea sign a striker this summer? That is another big question that fans are asking
