£78 million star “might” end his career at Stamford Bridge
Dean Jones, a transfer source, thinks Chelsea star Mason Mount could end up staying at Stamford Bridge for the rest of his playing days.
Since he joined the Blues when he was six years old, the attacking midfielder is now expected to end his career in west London, according to Jones.
Chelsea is attempting to sign Mount to a new, long-term contract after successfully convincing Reece James to sign a new one.
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly and Mount have already held talks about the 23-year-old putting pen to paper on an extension.
His existing deal has less than two years remaining on it, hence the Blues’ rush to get him to sign a new contract.
Mount is a key player for Chelsea, starting in all six of their Premier League games so far this season and featuring in 32 last term.
Jones would not be surprised to see Mount, who has a CIES Football Observatory value of £78m, retire at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “There are not many players you could imagine staying at one club for the duration of their career, but this is probably one of the ones that you feel actually might if you can continue to build in the way that you should do.”
