As expected, Timo Werner’s transfer to Chelsea have been made official, and Chelsea fans will be definitely pleased to have this deal in the bag ahead of next season.

The 24-year-old has signed a five year deal with the Blues, and will be the second highest earner at Stamford Bridge, behind only N’Golo Kante.

Werner spent four successful years at Leipzig where he scored 93 goals in 157 games, and he has now said goodbye to the fans he hold he high esteem, as he looks forward to playing for Chelsea.

“Time to say goodbye,” wrote Werner. “After four wonderful and defining years, it’s time to share with you that I have decided to move to England next season.

“I take this step with great excitement but also a heavy heart. I can still remember when I arrived here in 2016 as a 20-year-old. My first game against Hoffenheim, my first home game against Dortmund, my first goal against HSV… Now, four years later, I look back on so many wonderful experiences, successes and matches that will stay with me forever.

“For this reason, I’d like to say thank you to the Leipzig fans, my team-mates, the coaches and the staff, to everyone else I have gotten to know, and to this wonderful city, where I felt at home from day one.

“At the same time, I’m excited for the new, exciting challenge of my career in England, which begins next season.”
