Chelsea has been in the pursuit of German star Kai Havertz for weeks now and the deal seems to be finalize in coming days.
However, Bayer Leverkusen chief executive Fernando Carro has confirmed Kai Havertz wants to leave the German club this summer amid reports claiming he has agreed personal terms with Chelsea.
Carro also revealed Havertz’s Chelsea move might not happen with Bayer Leverkusen demanding £90 million for the 21 year old and Chelsea only willing to pay £70 million.
Carro told German news outlet Kolner Stadt-Anzeiger: “It was always clear that we will have talks once the Europa League season concluded.
“Kai has voiced his desire to make the next step. At the moment, I can’t say whether this will work out in the near future or not.”
Havertz is deemed to be one of the top young players in Europe having scored 38 goals in his last 87 matches in all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen.
