“Forget £80m Declan Rice, He’s better than him”- Chelsea fans tells Blues board they want 20 year-old world class player at Chelsea
According to Football london, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants to add 3 more faces to his squad this summer. Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia wants to sign a new defender, a midfielder, and a forward who will give Thomas Tuchel more selection options next season.
Just like Frank Lampard’s tenure, England international Declan Rice has been linked with a move to Stanford Bridge this summer.
The defensive midfielder is on Thomas Tuchel’s radar as the German wants to add more steel in his midfield. However, his £100m release clause may seem to be difficult to reach after West Ham refused to lower his asking price.
However, Chelsea fans feel that their young midfielder Billy Gilmour should be given a chance to impress rather than spending big on Declan Rice. Reacting after the goalless draw between Scotland and England, Chelsea fans showered praises to their 20-year-old star who won the man of the match award.
The two midfielders clashed in the midfield but it was Scotland who was praised more after outclassing the highly talented England squad.
Gilmer played for 76 minutes making 40 accurate passes, 3 out of 4 accurate long balls, and made 2 tackles. Last season he made few appearances under Thomas Tuchel and this may be his breakthrough to the first team.
Below are the reactions from Blues fans to explain why the club do not need to pursue West Ham’s Declan Rice.
Purum5: “Gilmour has always proved himself and performed. He should hang tight and should be given chances and with the number of games we will play this coming season I think he can easily be rotated into the squad.”
Run-Tasty: “If we don’t make him a starter in the next 2 years, he’s going to be a starter for Man City or Liverpool in 5 years.”
Dan-Targaryen: “This guy won motm on his prem debut, champions league debut, one of the domestic cups debut and now his full Scottish debut? What a baller”
CFC_Franz: “I think Chelsea have a gem with them (Billy Gilmour) and they should be developing and nurturing him to be Jorginho’s successor and not Declan Rice.”
