(Video): Tuchel sends ‘touching message’ to Pep Guardiola despite beating him 3 times last season
The new Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wins the UEFA champions league in his debut season with the club, makes Second place in the FA Cup and also finished fourth in the league.
However, Tuchel did all this with the same squad that Frank Lampard was struggling with at Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel beats his good friend Pep Guardiola 3times last season. In the Premier league, Fa Cup Semi-Final and also using him to win the Champions league trophy.
The Chelsea boss finally sends some touching message to Pep to appreciate him with his big influence in his coaching career that has helped him alot.
However, Tuchel took a lot of names who had a big influence on him from his youth and owes them a lot for his success.
He was also asked if any elite coach or manager in football ever influenced him. To which he replied “It was clearly like before I even understood it, that teams like Louis Van Gaal’s Ajax, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, Johan Cryuff’s Barcelona and when I understood more about football there was Pep in Barcelona. Who taught me everything about this game. If you play nice and win, you can win everything and still be humble and still be a nice guy”.
‘You can attack and still be intense at defending, you can do it with guys from the academy and you can impose so many things in this game of football’.
Tuchel relates between a writer, a painter, and himself as a manager and says that the game has to speak for itself. If you’re a writer and you have to explain about your book then it is not as good a book, same as if you are a painter and you have to explain you’re painting a lot to the people then it is for sure you’re painting is not up to the mark as it is quite self-explanatory.
Tuchel admits that Pep has been a big influence on him and even till today if he watches his games he believes he can learn a lot about football and also learn something new.
While Tuchel has never defeated Guardiola in his five previous meetings in Germany, he has managed to defeat Pep on three occasions in this season at his time in Chelsea. One being the FA Cup semifinal and the other being the highly prestigious UEFA Champions League. Hence Tuchel’s words are justified about Guardiola ‘He really taught me everything.
