According to recent reports, Manchester United legend Paul Scholes recently claimed Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool all had better defences that Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.
“I also don’t think [Chelsea] are great defensively,” Scholes said.
“I think [Antonio] Rudiger’s been really good but, other than that, you’ve got Thiago Silva who’s 36 or 37, Andreas Christensen’s a young player.
“Well, Liverpool have got the best centre-backs, [Manchester] City have got two great ones, I think United have got two really good ones. I think Chelsea are probably the weakest out of the top four defensively.”
Scholes have received heavy criticism for the comment following Manchester United’s 5-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday and Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva has also joined the debate.
Reacting to the video of Scholes making the comment about Chelsea’s defence, Thiago Silva gave his verdict with a single emoji: the crying laughing face.
Chelsea have the best defence in the Premier League this season, with the Blues conceding just 3 goals after 9 Premier League games. Manchester City have conceded 4 goals, Liverpool have conceded 6 goals while Manchester United have conceded 15 goals.
