Edouard Mendy reacted after been robbed of the Goalkeeper Yashin award

How on earth does this happened? Edouard Mendy did not win the Goalkeeper award at the Ballon D’or awards ceremony last night.

In what is named as the Yashin award, Mendy came second to Gianluigi Donnarumma, which is an absolute farce if you ask me.

The Chelsea man Mendy has been the best goalkeeper in world football for the last year, and it isn’t even close to being a debate. No idea why he was overlooked for this in favour of Donnarumma, who has been nowhere near as good as him, but he’s been absolutely robbed.

Mendy was at Chelsea last night as The Blues organised their own in house celebration for the event, and he was interviewed after the awards.

There was nothing mentioned about him not getting the award, but it doesn’t matter anyway because Mendy described how he has had the best year of his life via the Chelsea website.

Mendy said: “It is an incredible achievement for me and I am really proud to be in Chelsea and to be part of the club.

“We did an excellent job last year and we continue this year. Hopefully everything will continue well. See you next year!

“For football, 2021 is the best year of my life because it was an amazing season, we won the biggest title in Europe in my first year in a big club. It’s my best year at the moment but I hope the next years will be better or the same.

“So many highlights! From the games against my previous club Rennes to playing the semi-final against Real Madrid and the final in Porto, so many moments to keep, to appreciate.”

Meanwhile, here’s the stats of the two Goalkeeper!
