“No club will pay that crazy amount, he will stay at Chelsea” – Frank Leboeuf says of Chelsea player who wants to leave Chelsea
Lukaku has scored just once in the Premier League since October and have struggled to have impact in games since he returned to the team after he was dropped for the game against Liverpool for comments he made about Thomas Tuchel’s tactics.
However, former Chelsea player Frank Leboeuf expects Romelu Lukaku to remain at Chelsea next season as no club will be willing to pay £100million for the striker.
“I hope so, yeah,” Leboeuf told ESPN FC when asked whether Lukaku will still be at Chelsea next season.
“I think he didn’t lose the talent that he showed at Inter [Milan] — it’s not gone, so I’m pretty confident that he’s going to stay.
“Chelsea paid a crazy amount of money to hire him, and I don’t see any other club paying over £100million for him, so he’s going to stay.
“He wants to prove that he can finally be successful at Chelsea.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Tuchel has revealed he won’t change his tactics just to suit Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.
When asked if he would change his tactics to get the best out of Lukaku, Tuchel insisted it would be wrong to change his approach just to suit one player because it’s a team sport.
“We do everything to help him,” Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference on Monday. “It is absolutely the wrong question because it is focusing on one player.
“He is a key player and we want him to be a key player but this is for me the wrong approach.”
