BREAKING: Chelsea midfielder gets contract extension

Billy Gilmour, a Chelsea midfielder, has had his contract extended until the summer of 2024.

Chelsea have used the option to extend the 21-year-contract old’s at Stamford Bridge, and he will now be committed to the club until 2024.

Gilmour spent the season on loan at Norwich City, although his loan was short-lived as the Canaries were relegated after coming last in the league.

Last season, Gilmour made 24 Premier League appearances for Norwich, 21 of which were starts.

After particularly terrible results in December, when they lost 5-0 to Arsenal and 3-0 to Crystal Palace, Canaries fans turned against Gilmour, chanting ‘f*** go back to Chelsea’ at him.

The influence Gilmour will have at Chelsea is still to be known, as Thomas Tuchel felt him surplus to needs at the club, despite the fact that he was a crucial player under former manager Frank Lampard.

Gilmour will return to Chelsea for pre-season football before deciding on his future — whether to depart on another loan move or stay and push for a starting spot in a crowded Chelsea squad.
