Following a dismal 3-0 loss to Leeds United at Elland Road on August 21, Chelsea supporters were incensed with their team’s performance.
Only one of the Blues’ first three Premier League games this season have ended in victories.
The Yorkshire club completely outplayed Thomas Tuchel’s team, with Blues goalkeeper Edouard Mendy handing Brenden Aaronson the opening goal.
Minutes later, Rodrigo made it 2-0 before Jack Harrison sealed a historic victory for Jesse Marsch’s team, moving them up to second place in the standings. Following the sound of the final siren, Chelsea’s Twitter account erupted in wrath, with numerous players getting harsh abuse.
Supporters singled out midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who was once again used as a right wing-back, as one of the players to watch. The 26-year-old was given the opportunity to start once more after making an impression in his most recent game against Tottenham Hotspur.
However, a superb performance from Harrison, who gave Loftus-Cheek a difficult time on the flank, severely exposed the England international. Fans questioned Loftus-inclusion Cheek’s in the starting lineup on social media after the team’s humiliation at Elland Road.
