“Absolutely yes, It started that way” – Tuchel finally reveals why he got angry with Alonso in Wolves draw
Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso failed to trace back quickly after a lost ball late in the first half against Wolves, provoking an angry response from Thomas Tuchel.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho spat several expletives at the left wing-back, and Alonso did not return for the second half.
After the game, Tuchel stated that the Spaniard was not harmed.
According to reporter Nathan Gissing, the two had a furious confrontation in the locker room during halftime.
Tuchel admitted to the event but claimed it didn’t happen until halftime.
He said: “Yeah for sure. Absolutely yes. It started and ended in the first half and was not continued at half-time and nothing else.
“It was not continued at half-time and things are solved. That happens.”
Explaining his anger, Tuchel went on: “We took too many risks in our structure and we were not disciplined enough in our structure, because the approach was already very, very offensive and very risky and within the structure we took too many risks. So our game management and our management of situations needs to be better.”
