Blues agree personal terms and 5-year deal with £52 million rated 23-year-old star

According to reports, Jules Kounde, a defender for Sevilla, is getting closer to being signed by Chelsea. Since last summer, the Premier League’s juggernauts have been prominently linked with the French center-back.

The 23-year-old and Chelsea have reportedly reached personal agreement on a five-year contract, according to Marca. Kounde’s transfer fee from Sevilla is reportedly in the neighborhood of £52 million.

In the 2019 summer, Kounde moved from Bordeaux to Sevilla. In his first season with the club, he quickly established himself as a regular starter for the Spanish powerhouses and contributed to their Europa League victory.

He was included in Didier Deschamps’ France team for Euro 2020 last summer as a result of his strong performances during the 2020–21 season. Kounde’s strong defensive performances last season helped Sevilla place fourth in La Liga.

The Frenchman was extensively linked with a move to Chelsea last summer, but nothing came of it. This summer, Thomas Tuchel’s team renewed their interest in the defender because they saw him as the best option to replace German center-back Antonio Rudiger. After his contract expires on June 30, the 29-year-old will quit the team and sign with Real Madrid.

According to reports, Chelsea and Barcelona are vying to sign Kounde. The Blaugrana are eager to add to their roster this summer in order to maintain their progress under Xavi and increase their chances of challenging for the La Liga championship.

Sport claims that the club is eager to let Clement Lenglet go and may consequently try to sign someone to replace the 26-year-old.

The 23-year-sale old’s to one of Sevilla’s local rivals is not something they are interested in doing. Furthermore, Tuchel’s team has the resources to pay for the complete transfer in one go, unlike the Catalan giants who may find it difficult to raise the money needed to sign the defender.
