Blues offered €12m per year deal to long-term Thiago Silva replacement

Blues offered €12m per year deal to long-term Thiago Silva replacement

Matthijs de Ligt, a defender for Juventus, has been linked with a move to Chelsea, and it appears the 22-year-old has moved up the Blues’ priority list of players to sign.

Chelsea has intensified its chase of De Ligt as the Blues look to replace Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.

In contrast to the club’s initial offer of €46 million plus for Timo Werner, Chelsea has reportedly made a bid of €80 million for the 22-year-old center-back.

The international from the Netherlands developed into one of Europe’s most promising young players while playing for Ajax before joining Juventus in 2019.

De Ligt contributed to Juventus’ victories in the Coppa Italia and the Serie A after joining the team in a €75 million transfer.

De Ligt is reportedly a great favorite of Thomas Tuchel, who sees the 22-year-old as a potential long-term replacement for the ailing Thiago Silva.

De Ligt was a perfect fit for Thomas Tuchel because of his strength, poise under pressure, and perseverance.

Juventus is said to have set a €90 million asking price for the former Ajax star, and Chelsea’s latest €80 million offer for him is near to that figure. According to rumors, Juventus is likely to accept this offer.

According to Chelsea reporter Vince, he said on Twitter: “Chelsea made contact again with Juventus on Monday and aims to close the deal for De Ligt.

“A 5-year contract is ready for the defender with an option for the sixth worth €12-13 million net plus bonuses.”

Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move for De Ligt, but the Bundesliga side are yet to table a bid.

Some reports claim De Ligt is more interested in a move to Chelsea.
