BREAKING: Chelsea finally terminate player’s contract after latest decision

According to confirmation from Chelsea, Ross Barkley departed the club by mutual consent when his contract was terminated,

Barkley moved from Everton to the Blues in 2018. Over the course of his 100 games for the London club in all competitions, he contributed 11 assists in addition to his 12 goals.

In May, he made his final appearance for the team. In the final match of the previous season for the Blues, the midfielder managed to score against Watford.

In 2018, he was hired for a sum of £15.1 million. Barkley spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Aston Villa.

Under Thomas Tuchel, he struggled to find consistent playing time, appearing in only 14 games in all competitions in the previous season.

Chelsea have made this known via an official club statement: “Ross Barkley has left Chelsea by mutual consent and becomes a free agent.”

The statement added: “We would like to thank Ross for his contribution to Chelsea and wish him well for the rest of his career.”

Barkley’s final game was against Watford in May, and it was his late header that secured all three points in our last game of the season.
