BREAKING: Chelsea sign Aubameyang from Barcelona as Defender pens seven year deal with Chelsea

Just before the transfer deadline, Chelsea finalized the acquisition of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona.

The trade has been in the works for a while, but as late as 48 hours ago it appeared to be off. Ultimately, though, the upper management at both teams was able to complete the transaction.

For Marcos Alonso, whose contract has reportedly been cancelled so that he might join Barcelona later, it is essentially a part-exchange arrangement.

However, Chelsea are paying something in the region of £12m to bring former Arsenal striker Aubameyang back to the Premier League.

The desperation to sign attacking talent and bring goals to the team was pretty clear once Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner had left, so we can only hope that Auba does a better job than them in that department.

He’s old – but hopefully gold as well.

Defender pens seven year deal with Chelsea

Chelsea’s newest defender and France international Wesley Fofana has signed a seven years deal at Stamford Bridge.

The young defender, who is considered one of the prospects to watch out for in future joined Chelsea from Leicester City this summer window.

Fofana is the third defender to join Chelsea after Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli and Marc Cucurella from Brighton.

Reacting to Fofana’s move to Chelsea, the club’s chairman Todd Boehly said: ‘Wesley is a hugely promising defender who has already proven his quality in the Premier League at a young age. We are delighted we were able to bring one of Europe’s most exciting talents to Chelsea and further strengthen that area of our squad, both for this season and many more to come.’

Fofana is expected to make his debut with the Blues squad this weekend when they face West Ham United in the Premier League.

He has joined the rest of the Blues squad in training ahead of the game.
