Brighton manager Graham Potter has admitted that he was pleased with his team’s performance against Chelsea, despite losing the game 3-1.
The home side made the game very difficult for Chelsea, and some poor passing in defence led to Chelsea’s opening goal, with Timo Werner using his pace to win a penalty which was converted by Jorginho.
Potter hailed his team’s performance, but rued the mistakes that led to Chelsea’s goals.
Potter told BBC Sport after the game: “The performance was good in many aspects; we more than matched Chelsea for long periods.
I’m disappointed with the opening goal, but errors can happen. We were heavily punished with a wonder strike – and ultimately, if you concede three times it’s hard to win football matches.
“You have moments against the big teams that you need to have go your way and we need to learn from that. But there are positives.
Adam Lallana was enjoying the game, he brings that personality, we are pleased with what he has brought to us and we just have to help him get on the field more often.”
