Bundesliga defender admits he is seeking regular spot with Chelsea when he arrives in summer

Ethan Ampadu has opened up over his ‘frustrating’ RB Leipzig loan and eyes a regular Chelsea spot next season.

The Wales defender is on a season-long at the Bundesliga club from Stamford Bridge and after a defensive crisis has found himself finally getting some games, and he is really taking his chances over in the Bundesliga and putting in some very impressive performances.

He started in Leipzig’s 1-0 first-leg win at Tottenham in the Champions League last 16 first-leg clash – and once again, he was impressive against one of the best sides in the premier League and against a team that managed to make it all the way to the final last season.

But the 19-year-old has managed just seven appearances for Leipzig since the Blues shipped him off to Germany last summer, and he has opened up and admitted that he has been frustrated by the lack of game time he has been getting at RB, reflecting on his loan stint in Germany, he told The Athletic: “To be honest, mixed. Yeah, I’d say mixed.

“There’s been a lot of frustration at times, however, I’ve learned a lot through those frustrations which will only help me later in my career. “I’ve not played as many games as I’d have liked to but in the games I’ve played in, I think I’ve done reasonably well. That’ll give me confidence, but I’ve things to learn from.

“If I’m honest, it’s not been as good as I hoped, not all that I wanted it to be. But I hope technically I’ve improved and, tactically, I’ve now played under another manager.

Ampadu has not had many games in the Bundesliga but has been impressive on his outings, and if Chelsea are still looking to improve that back-line, there is no harm in having him the squad next season is there? But Chelsea will still need to delve into that transfer kitty in order to sign a big time defender, as he may be talented, but he is not the man to solve the clubs problems in the chase to get back into the Premier League title challenge.

But considering Lampard likes to gives the talents a real chance to shine at the club, he will surely get more game time at the Bridge when he comes back to the Premier League in the summer?
