Hakim Ziyech to join Chelsea in July with latest Eredivisie report

According to the Daily Mail, the Chelsea fans might not have to worry about any potential delay regarding the arrival of incoming summer signing Hakim Ziyech at Stamford Bridge.

That’s because the 2019-20 Eredivisie season in Holland is on the verge of being cancelled and the official confirmation is likely to come on Friday after the Dutch government imposed a ban on all major events due to the coronavirus pandemic until September 1.

That will leave the door ajar for the Moroccan to join Chelsea in July, thus crushing all fears that the postponement of the leagues due to the coronavirus pandemic could lead to a potential delay in his arrival in West London. Ziyech was initially expected to join Chelsea on July 1 after a deal had been agreed with Ajax to sign the playmaker for a fee of £36.6 million in the summer.

However, with all the domestic leagues likely to finish late in the summer, it was understood that Ziyech would only be able to join Chelsea following the conclusion of the Eredivisie campaign.

It now looks likely, though, that Ziyech will be free to complete his move to Chelsea in July but talks will need to be held over the official confirmation of the deal when the next transfer window opens.

The football authorities in England seem to be determined to somehow complete the season, preferably in July, meaning that Lampard’s squad will be in training during the time Ziyech arrives in West London.

However, the Moroccan will not be allowed to play for the Blues until next season and it is therefore understood that the 26-year-old won’t be asked to report for duty by the club hierarchy. As for the Eredivisie, all clubs will hold a meeting to discuss various proposals regarding how to decide the final league standings following a premature finish.
