Chelsea complete signing of Swedish international goalkeeper

According to reports on the club’s official website, Chelsea have completed the signing of Swedish international goalkeeper Zecira Musovic on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The 24-year-old Falun-born stopper moves to Kingsmeadow on 1 January, ending her eight-year stay with Swedish top flight club FC Rosengard.

Musovic has enjoyed a much-decorated playing career to date with the player having won three Swedish Damallsvenskan titles while she has lifted the Swedish Cup, the Svenska Cupen, on the same number of occasions. The keeper has also won the Svenska Supercupen, the Swedish equivalent of the FA Women’s Community Shield, twice.

With Musovic having not lifted a trophy in more than two years, the player’s decision to join a Chelsea side who currently hold three of the four domestic trophies seems like an obvious one. The keeper will be hoping to add to her personal trophy collection during her time at Kingsmeadow as virtually all of her new club teammates have done in recent months.

On the international stage, Musovic has four senior caps to her name for Sweden. She was last selected to represent her country in September’s 1-1 draw with Iceland in UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 qualifying.

It has been confirmed that Chelsea have handed Musovic the number one jersey while the player will be free to represent The Blues immediately after the mid-season break.
