Chelsea keeping close tabs on 6 ft 4 defender ahead of January move

Chelsea are reportedly planning to make a €8m (£7.2m) offer for Malmo in-demand defender Anel Ahmedhodzic.

The 6 ft 4 defender left Malmo to join Nottingham Forest back in 2016, however, only made one first-team appearance for the Championship outfit before making a return back to Swedish heavyweights.

Following a loan spell with Danish team, Hobro, Ahmedhodzic has become a vital player for the Sky Blues and has now played 34 games for his current team in all competitions.

According to Expressen, the West London club have been impressed by the centre-back’s recent progress and are lining up a €8m (£7.2m) bid in the hope of getting the deal done for his services.

Ahmedhodzic made his senior international debut for Swedish giants back in January, however, has since moved his citizenship to Bosnia-Herzegovina and featured for the latter in the UEFA Nations League earlier this month where he has impressed and attracted interest from the hosts of European teams.

Chelsea moved into fourth place in the English top-tier standings with a comfortable 3-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon and they will face Rennes at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night in the Champions League.
