Chelsea midfielder leaves international duty camp earlier ahead of Southampton clash

Chelsea set to be back to action in the Premier League on 17th of October as the blues squad set to be completed.

However, Hakim Ziyech has left the Morocco camp early and is on his way back to Chelsea.

Ziyech is yet to make his competitive debut for the Blues following his summer move from Ajax.

The attacking midfielder injured his knee in the pre-season friendly against Brighton & Hove Albion and has not featured for Chelsea since, missing Premier League games against Brighton, Liverpool, West Brom and Crystal Palace.

He made his return to action for Morocco on Friday – coming off the bench for the final half-hour and setting up a goal in a 3-1 friendly win against Senegal in Rabat.

However, according to football london Ziyech is now travelling back to London rather than staying on for Morocco’s second friendly, also in Rabat, against DR Congo on Tuesday night.

It is thought that his departure was agreed before the Senegal game, so there is no suggestion of a fresh injury blow or recurrence of the previous issue.

So, all being well, the 27-year-old should be available to Frank Lampard for Chelsea’s next match, against Southampton in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge next Saturday (October 17).
