Chelsea announce defender deal, Blues sign another stopper, Havertz and Werner set to explode and Redknapp makes Stones claim in Chelsea roundup…

Chelsea defender Melang Sarr has admitted his delight after completing a loan move to Porto.

With all the signings that Chelsea made over the course of the summer, it is easy to forget that the club managed to secure a deal for the highly-rated Sarr, who became a free agent and was chased by most of the top sides in the Premier League.

But he needs time before he is ready to make an impact at Chelsea, and the Blues decided that letting him make the move to Porto on a short-term loan for the next 12 months should help give him the game time that he needs to develop.

Sarr joins a Porto side which has risen back to the top of the pile in Portugal in recent seasons. Last season, they won a Primeira Liga and Taca de Portugal double under Sergio Conceicao, and the Dragoes will be expected to keep the good times rolling in 2020-21.

“I am very excited,” Sarr told Porto’s website. “It was an opportunity I was looking for, so I am grateful and happy to be here. I feel prepared to start helping the team to achieve their goals.

“FC Porto is the best club in Portugal, it is a very big club with talented players and a history that, for me, is very important. I know this story, it’s a proud club and that’s what I hope to find, a team that fights and with a good mentality.

“I know that Porto is an ambitious club and I also came for that. I’m looking forward to the competition, big games, the Champions League and helping the club and the team to win another league title.

“The Porto fans are very good. I know that they have been helping the team as much as possible and that they want to get back to the stadiums as soon as possible. But for now, I know that they will continue to support us to help us get where we want to be.”

Blues hero Pat Nevin expects Timo Werner and Kai Havertz to “explode” for Chelsea sooner rather than later.

Werner and Havertz are regarded as two of the most exciting talents in the game and Chelsea fought off a number of top clubs in the transfer window to make sure that they were the club to get deals done.

However, Neither German has made a huge impact at Stamford Bridge since their big money moves, and it is taking much longer than many people expected from them to take off, but Nevin believes it is only a matter of time before the pair explode into action

He told the club website: “We are still waiting for the expected explosion of goals from the newer players. “It still feels like Timo and Kai are just bubbling under ready to explode onto the scene.

“For once I think the Chelsea staff might be absolutely delighted to see many of these players leave on international duty, but why?

“I reckon the likes of Kai and Timo both need as many games as possible to get themselves not only up to their own levels of mid-season match fitness, but higher still to the level expected week in and week out in the Premier League.”

Chelsea have completed another transfer deal and signed 16-year-old goalkeeper Sami Tlemcani from Paris FC.

With all the signings that Chelsea made over the course of the summer, it is very easy to forget that Chelsea like to sign some of the very best talents in the game, and either given them a chance in the first-team, or send them out on-loan for the next few seasons.

And that is what the board have done with the signing of Tlemcani, who is reportedly rated very highly by the Chelsea board, who were keen to beat off the likes of PSG, Manchester United and Tottenham for the services of Tlemcani

Tlemcani spent a bit more than 2 years with the Paris club, having been involved in 1st team training with them since the age of 15, quite remarkably so, and The French club confirmed on their website that he has left on a permanent deal.

The teenager will join up with the club’s academy after spending two years with the Ligue 2 side. There are many Chelsea fans out there that have no idea who the hell this lad is, but he is getting the coaching staff very excited and many will be hoping that he has the ability to break into the Chelsea first team.

Chelsea have signed so many youngsters over the last few seasons and then just shipped them out on-loan, never giving them a chance in the first team, so it will be interesting to see if this lad gets a chance in the first-team over the next few seasons.
