Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich set to approve the signing of £80million player but on one condition

As we all know Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen on signing West Ham midfielder Declan Rice this January after missing out on the transfer in the summer.

However, According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein via Daily Star, Chelsea signing Rice is dependent on Lampard keeping his job.

Lampard is under huge pressure after four defeats in six games which have left the Blues languishing down in ninth place in the Premier League.

The report claims several board members aren’t convinced by the 21-year-old and would likely end their pursuit in the event of Lampard’s departure.

The hefty transfer fee West Ham are demanding is another concern for Chelsea, especially after producing a record-breaking outlay in the previous window.

Rice has racked up 128 appearances for West Ham since being handed his debut in 2017, scoring three goals and earning 13 England caps in the process.
