Chelsea to announce first January transfer, CEO gives green light for Chelsea to sign defender, Chelsea to open Upamecano talks, Chelsea urged to raid struggling Barca
Chelsea are on the verge of announcing that long-serving Lucas Piazon is all set to leave the club this month. However, Chelsea have been in the headlines alot over the past few weeks about players that could arrive, and players that could be leaving over the next few weeks, with Piazon a name that is no longer wanted at the club.
The forward is somewhat of a forgotten man at Stamford Bridge with his only Premier League outing come in the memorable 8-0 win over Aston Villa back in December 2012, but is his time at the club seems to be coming towards a very abrupt end.
He has made 12 appearances for Rio Ave so far this season, but that loan spell looks set to end earlier than expected and he is about to agree a transfer deal to Portuguese giants FC Braga
Chelsea have not been busy this transfer window, so once the deal is announced, it will be the first transfer deal that the Blues have completed, and Frank Lampard has warned it could be difficult to further trim his squad, with the likes of Emerson, Fikayo Tomori and Jorginho all linked with moves away
“We’ll see what happens with the squad because we’re in a very tough time in terms of Covid and how the transfer market looks,” Lampard said during his pre-Morecambe press conference.
“So anything that happens, player by player, would have to be right for the club, for the player, dependent on contracts, and then myself.
“So it’s not simple. “Generally, you want to have a squad that has a real balance to it, one that enables players to get minutes but also have good competition at the same time.
“I’m not saying this negatively about my players because I have a human side to me that understands why players are unhappy when they are not playing.
“I see that. “But I just can’t make the decision to play everyone and that can be challenging.”
The move has been a long-time coming for Piazon and many Chelsea fans will wish him the very best of luck. It is just a shame that such a gifted player never fulfilled his potential at the club
Chelsea have joined the race to prise Dayot Upamecano away from RB Leipzig in the summer, according to the latest reports.
We are firmly in the January transfer window and there was expected to be a bit of business by the Chelsea board to help complete the squad for Frank Lampard, but the covid outbreak has again stopped transfer deals for taking place.
That means that there many not be many players arriving at the club over the next few weeks, which means that Chelsea will be planning for the summer transfer market, when things going on in the world should be a whole load better.
And one player that has caught the attentions of the Chelsea board is that of Upamecano, the highly-rated young Frenchman that is fast-becoming one of the most exciting young defenders in the game right now.
The likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and even Arsenal have all been keeping a very close eye on the lad over the past few seasons, but have all failed to make any sort of transfer move.
And that has now opened the door for Chelsea to swoop in and try to convince the player that he needs to make a move to the Bridge, according to the Daily Mail, which suggests that they may open talks this month to try and get the player to agree a move for the summer.
RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has opened the door to a possible Chelsea transfer transfer for centre-back Dayot Upamecano
After developing into one of the most gifted young defenders in world football right now, there has been alot of speculation over the past few days that Upamecano is now on the shopping list of Chelsea boss Frank Lampard.
We all know that this Chelsea back-line has shown some issues over the past few weeks, and with the ageing Thiago Silva only a short-term solution for the club, it means that Upamecano is a player that could be the long-term replacement for the Blues.
The Daily Mail have recently suggested that Chelsea are ready to open talks and try to get a transfer deal wrapped up for the Frenchman, and now they have been given the green light to make the right kind of financial offer
Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have given a clear indication that they would be willing to listen to realistic offers for star central defender Upamecano, The German club’s CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has told SportBild that they will “sell top performers again if it makes financial sense”, opening the door for some of Europe’s elite clubs to make a bid for the France international.
Chelsea have been urged to take advantage of the financial problems that Barcelona are currently facing and sign some players
It is no secret that Barcelona are one of the greatest teams in world football right now and are only a handful of sides that are able to pay massive wages to superstars like Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique and Antoine Griezmann.
However, Barcelona are racing against time to meet Financial Fair Play demands or risk being fined, and To avoid trouble, they have a few months to cut their costs by £90 million, claims the report on the Daily Express
They will have their presidential elections later this month and one of the candidates, Victor Font says that they have to make £72m from selling some of their players before July 1
That means that players like Samuel Umtiti, Philippe Coutinho and even Griezmann could be on the market for a bargain price, should the likes of Chelsea decide to swoop in and try to get a transfer deal all wrapped up.
Coutinho and Griezmann have been two players that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic have wanted for a few years now, but the fact that Coutinho would still cost £80 million to acquire, while Griezmann would cost well over £100 million, the COVID-19 outbreak has stopped big deals happening.
But now that Barcelona are looking to save some money an raise some funds, that opens the door for a number of moves to be made by Frank Lampard.
If the reports is true and Barcelona are being forced to sell some players this transfer window, or the next, then there are a few players that Chelsea should try and acquire that would make a serious statement to the rest of the Premier League.
They should take advantage while they can
